چکیده

Ischemic central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) remains one of the leading causes of blindness among retinal vascular disorders, second only to diabetic retinopathy in causes of visual loss [1]. There is a significant prevalence of this disorder in the elderly population, with an incidence of 1.3% in the aged 65 and older [2,3]. The fundus of a patient with ischemic CRVO gives an appearance of extensive blood, venous tortuosity, and capillary non-perfusion in all quadrants. Poor visual acuity at the onset predicts a poor outcome with little hope of visual recovery [4]. Further complications such as neovascular anterior Abstract

Baseline subfoveal choroidal thickness as an indicator for bevacizumab outcomes in central retinal vein occlusion

Background: Retinal vein occlusions are one of the most common form of retinal vascular disorders and could lead to vision loss due to macular edema, macular ischemia and sequelae from neovascularization. Anti-venous endothelial growth factor (anti-VEGF) treatment is the choice strategy of treatment for patients with macular edema secondary to central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). There is an ...

Vascular Occlusions following Ocular Surgical Procedures: A Clinical Observation of Vascular Complications after Ocular Surgery

BACKGROUND Ocular vascular occlusions following intraocular procedures are a rare complication. We report a case series of patients with retinal vascular occlusions or anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION) after anterior and posterior segment surgery and demonstrate possible risk factors. METHODS Observational case series. RESULTS In ten patients, vascular occlusions were observed withi...

Role of Transthoracic Echocardiography in the Evaluation of Patients with Retinal Vein Occlusion

Introduction: Retinal vein occlusion  is a common vascular disorder disrupting vision. Two basic types of RVO are branch retinal vein occlusion and central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).  Retinal vein occlusion is a multifactor process including systemic illness and local retinal factors.RVO may be associated with atherosclerotic risk factors. We analyzed the role of 2 dimensional transthor...

Do temporal artery duplex ultrasound findings correlate with ophthalmic complications in giant cell arteritis?

OBJECTIVE Ophthalmic complications are common in acute GCA. Do temporal artery ultrasound and clinical parameters correlate with the occurrence and severity of ophthalmic complications? METHODS The results of temporal artery ultrasound examinations are compared with the occurrence of anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy (AION), central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO), branch retinal artery occ...

Investigating the frequency characteristics of the electroretinogram signal in patients with central retinal vein occlusion

Background: Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is the second most common retinal vascular disorder after diabetic retinopathy. In this study, we tried to examine the potentials of time-frequency methods for differentiating the eyes with CRVO. Materials and methods: Twenty patients with unilateral CRVO were included in this study. Their contralateral normal eyes were considered as the control...
